About The Post-Grad Survival Guide

About The Post-Grad Survival Guide

Welcome to The Post-Grad Survival Guide!

My name is Tom Kuegler.

For those who don’t know, we started out as a publication over on Medium.com. In 2016 I (that’s me in the picture above) founded the Post-Grad Survival Guide and started publishing there five times per week.

I didn’t think much of it, honestly. It was more of a place to post my personal writing.

When the pub started getting 30+ followers per day weeks later, I knew I was onto something. Fast forward four years, and the PGSG sits at over 40,000 followers and boasts half a million page views per month.

We say we’re Medium’s Millennial work, money, and life advice publication. Well, now we’re bigger than Medium. We’ve published work from thousands of writers there, and we can’t wait to publish work from 1,000 more right here.

You’re probably wondering why I keep saying “we” all the time!

In 2018 we had Stephen Moore come on as our Co-Editor. Before he arrived, I was publishing anything and everything — a bad strategy for quality control. Stephen joined us and dealt a massive blow to the BS I sometimes published, and over the next two years, he’d do an incredible job tightening the focus of this publication.

It showed, too.

The Future of the Post-Grad

We went from 70,000 page views per month to 150,000, then to 300,000. A few months back we surpassed the half a million monthly pageview mark, an incredible accomplishment in the blogging world. Whatever Stephen did, it worked.

When I made this publication 4 years ago, the main “topics” we published about were Productivity, Relationships, Travel, Life Lessons, and Work.

We’ve since doubled down on “Work” “Money” and “Life Lessons” while dialing it back on everything else.

We’ve started columns/series with some of the best writers on Medium, including Megan Holstein, Melody Wilding, Zulie Rane, Todd Brison, and Fab Giovanetti.

There’s also a ton of other regular contributors that I LOVE reading from, including Sergey Faldin, Itxy Lopez, Anthony Moore, Ayodeji Awosika, Declan Wilson, Emily Wilcox, Nicolas Cole, Brooke Harrison, Jon Brosio, Jason Gutierrez, Sinem Günel and honestly a hell of a lot more. If I wrote them all down this would be the longest “About” page ever.

Stephen likes to joke that we could become the next “Forbes” for Millennials. Why the hell not? Moving forward we’ll continue doing what we do, but we’ll also grow outside of Medium and hopefully reach an even wider audience.

That’s who we are at the Post-Grad Survival Guide in a nutshell. 🙂
